Runners...Yield to Drivers!

I know the rule that we learned in driver's ed. and phrase that seems to have become a cliche is that "pedestrians have the right-of-way".  However, that does not hold true for runners that choose to abuse the rules of the road, believe me, I almost found out first hand a few weeks ago when I almost sandwiched between two SUVs.  I will admit that I was in the wrong and crossed the road illegally.  This experience was enough to make me stop, cry and thank God for giving me another chance to get it right.  So my fellow runners, I'm hear to spread the word that you must obey the rules of the road.  I know that it is easier on the joints to run in the street and easier to avoid cracks on the uneven sidewalk.  But, I'm of the opinion now that it's better to face those smaller issues rather than risk my life because of them.  If you must run on the street, please remember to:
1.  wear a safety vest
2.  run against traffic
3.  cross at traffic lights or crosswalks
4.  obey the rules of the road, whether it's from the driver's seat or running shoes
